The Homebush Hotel

One of the true 'back country pubs' which has stood the test of time, and still remains the 'hub' of the vast Western Lands Division of NSW, between Balranald and Ivanhoe.

The famous bar, with its hugh central open fire place, character filled "shearing board" mural, and many local artefacts displayed around the walls has been home to many a trapper, teamster, drover, shearer, truckie, mailman, traveller and station family and staff over the past 128 years.
Also now the home to many a woodcutter, backpacker and paliantologist (enroute to Mungo NP) all met with a warm smile and cold beer by the accommodating and friendly staff at the pub.

A range of meals are served including special theme nights. These themes can change mid stream due to the availability of specialist ingredients and the alcoholic state of the cook.

Camping Accommodation The adjacent campground offers a range of accomodation from grassed tent sites, cabins with cooking facilities, on site vans, powered van sites and backpacker style rooms. Accommodation is reasonable priced with the airconditioned backpacker rooms which accomodate 2 persons starting @ $15 per head and this includes walls. Swag sites are complimentary (free).

The camp ground also has a central kitchen, laundry, clean bathrooms and a fly proof chill out area with BBQ. Future developments at the homebush include the installation of a dough nut pit, upgrade of the accommodation (BUT NOT THE COST OF), new kitchen, dedicated smoking lounge and the possible installaton of PUBTAB. Poker machines will NEVER BE INSTALLED.

We plan to make Saturday night party night for the young and the not so young but young at heart. Live music will be on tap ranging from C&W through to Covers.

Our opening times are Monday - Thursday 12 noon to 8pm, Friday - Saturday 10am to midnight, Sunday 12 noon to 8pm. Its time we breathed a bit of life back into the old girl so DO IT, Get Ambushed at the Homebush but: Bring a swag or some clean sheets and $15 because NO ONE IS GUNNA GET KILLED ON THE ROADS GOING HOME FROM OUR PUB.

BREAKING NEWS.

Bugsy the Bird has been silenced
We are sad (even distressed perhaps) to announce the passing of Bugsy the talking bird. Bugsy was eaten by Jedda the black dog. Bugsy's last words were HELP. Sir E-E, sorry Princess Edwina suggested we gave Bugsy CPR in an attempt to revive him but unfortunately all that was left was a wing. We did however have a moving funeral service having made a small coffin out of a stubby box. Unfortunately on the third day he arose again. Jedda dug him up and devoured the remaining wing.

Secession
Due to our general disgust with the political situation in Australia the district of Penarie has decided to secede from the Commonwealth of Australia. We will furthermore be known as the Principality of Penarie. By default, I will become Prince Phil and Sir Edward-Edward has agreed to have a sex change operation and become Princess Edwina. While he is ‘under the knife’ we will have one of his legs removed. “Well how many one legged princesses do you know” Unfortunately he/she will not be able to take hormone tablets and grow breasts as his moustache would fall out.

Tram Service
Owing to the fact that a certain political party wants to jack up the fuel price to something outrageous and force us all to use public transport we have written to the NSW Department of Transport asking that a tram line be built between here and the village. We have also asked that lines be built around all the surrounding properties so that the stock can be mustered by tram. Unfortunately the dogs will have to run along behind as they are not allowed on public transport. The only exception to this is guide dogs but as Labradors are not known for their ‘herding’ prowess we do not see this as an issue.

Tunnel
Sir Edward_Edward, sorry Princess Edwina and I are in the throes of building a tunnel from the Hotel cellar to Ivanhoe which is approximately 200K north of here. The tunnel will house a ‘Luge” (toboggan) which will be operated by a huge spring. The reason for this is that when the terrorists drop the bomb on the village all the right people can jump on the tram and come out here. There will be sufficient warning of the bomb strike. On arrival we will all board the Luge and be catapulted through to Ivanhoe. Once the atomic dust has dispersed we will return via the Luge (the spring is a return variety) and board the tram at the hotel for the trip back to the village. Unfortunately it was pointed out recently by the new Sergeant of Police that atomic dust takes 100 years to disperse so we will have to construct a cryogenic facility at Ivanhoe as well.

Smoking Ban
In compliance with the new regulations banning smoking in licensed premises we have constructed a luxurious smoking area. In actual fact we have just added a bit of balustrade to the verandah and placed a few ashtrays about. In due course (finances permitting) we will add some upmarket furnishings and heating.

PAST NEWS.

The management of the Homebush Hotel is pleased to announce the appointment of Sr Lynette to the position of assistant hostess, Bar Sr Lynette is a member of the little known Order of the Bouncing Beryls (Presbertrian) who live on trampolines. Sr Lynette has taken the vows of Chastitty, Abstainence and Poverty. Well on the wages paid at this establishment all staff have taken the vow of poverty! Sr Lynette is an accomplishes Penist, Organist and was classicly trained at the Royal Acadamy of the Farts, Bancock. Sr Lynettes sister (SR Janet) is a member of the Sisters of Misery. This is a silent order due to the fact their founder (Sr Matilda) was born with a genetic disorder in that her tongue was in her ear. We believe this disorder enabled that late Sr Matilda to work miracles and we welcome any suggestions as to that they were. Suggestions may be sent via email to homebushhotel@bigpond.com

Local injured at B&S
Local Homebush identity and resident, Flat S is recovering from multiple serious injuries sustained at a recent B&S. Flat was hit in the eye by a missile (a rissole in fact) and to add to his woes now supports a black foot, not bruised but spraypainted. Flat has very little recollection of the event claiming concussion as the reason. He did consume 60 cans of Bundy leading up to the incident. Well I guess this could only happen at a B&S
